naked.

i wish i could tell you that the subject line had something to do with actually being naked. probably lucky for you it doesn't. :)

so back in December, I was able to purchase the Urban Decay Naked Palette for a really great price, at $30!!

How THRILLING!

Ask me how many times i've used it?  twice.

TWICE PEOPLE.

WHY?  Well, i tried it when i first got it, i was so excited to smack on those glittery shades on to my lids.  I was semi impressed with it then.

Then the second time was New Years Eve.  I was less than thrilled the 2nd time around.  I just suck at it.  I can't get the color combos right.  I'm that dumb.

I found a tutorial like two years ago using Mac eye shadows and i've been religiously using that routine since. Lids= Satin Taupe, Crease = Club and Highlighter = Blanc Type.  and the Painterly paint pot as a primer.  This really works for me.

Naked palette, not so much.

So help me! which color combos work best for those of you who have tried these shadows?? if i can't come up with a good combo soon i'm gonna sell it! literally, i swiped it two times. No joke.

have you ever purchased something you had such high hopes for and it just totally let you down?

  1. I don't have the palette but I am thinking about getting it. My formula for a smokey eye is always the lightest color on the lid, then the next darkest color I sweep into the crease and onto half the lid, and then I use the darkest color in the corners and part of the crease.

  2. I always watch YouTube videos to learn how to do something funky with my eye makeup. For NYE I did a smokey eye with navy blues and it came out really well. I never wear much makeup so I thought I looked like a drag queen, but everyone else seemed to like it.
